Summer of Service

Summer of Service is a United Way 2-1-1 Volunteer Center program focused on getting youth ages 5 - 18 involved in their communities during their summer break. The 2014 program runs from June 1, 2014  through August 31, 2014. The first 250 participants that complete 5, 10 or 25 hours of service and submit their completed service journal by August 31, 2014 qualify to attend our celebration event.

SOS how to

  1. Sign up! Fill out the Summer of Service Registration Form and let us know that you will be participating.
  2. Contact the agency, group or service organization you are interested in helping. Need help coming up with ideas? Use our Volunteer Opportunities Listing to get a sense of where your help is needed in our community!
  3. Complete 5, 10, or 25 hours of volunteer work at selected agencies and/or attend United Way of Salt Lake's sponsored activities to complete the minimum hours.
  4. Complete and submit your Service Journal by August 31, 2014 to our Volunteer Events Coordinator, amy@uw.org. Be sure to include attachments such as photographs, letters, and anything that will support your volunteer experience.


End of Summer of Service Party

The first 250 participants to complete 5, 10, or 25 hours of service and submit a Service Journal to volunteercenter@uw.org will qualify to attend this year's Summer of Service Celebration Party.

This event includes a pizza dinner, awards ceremony, and an evening at the Boondocks Fun Center.
