Submit a Newspaper Ad
How to submit my volunteer opportunity in the newspaper listing?
Every other week, United Way of Salt Lake submits opportunities for the "Volunteer Corner" in local newspapers.
Organizations are encouraged to submit upcoming volunteer opportunities. Please email our Volunteer Events Coordinator, email@example.com, with your opportunity. Opportunities must be received by Wednesday of each week. Opportunities are currently sent to the City Weekly, Deseret News, The Salt Lake Tribune, and Davis County Clipper.
This service is free and is available on a first come, first served basis. We cannot guarantee the opportunity will be published or for how long.
Please include the following information for submission:
- Agency name
- Contact person
- Contact phone number
- SHORT description of volunteer opportunity including relevant dates and times

Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center
Looking for volunteer coaches for Jr. Jazz Basketball! Only takes 2-3 hours per week. Clinics and practice start December 4th and the regular season begins January 6th. Scorekeepers also needed. Contact John Smith, 801-555-1212.
A special note to Hospice volunteer coordinators:
2-1-1 Information and Referral does not list individual hospice opportunities, because we reserve the newspaper space for nonprofit and government agencies. Space permitting, 2-1-1 will list a general call for hospice volunteers every couple of months. When potential volunteers contact 2-1-1 for hospice volunteering, information will be provided about a variety of hospices. If your hospice wishes to be included please contact the volunteer coordinator. Hospices are encouraged to list volunteer opportunities online and in our printed volunteer lists.
How do I submit my opportunity for inclusion on a resource list?
We publish several resource lists to advertise volunteer opportunities for our partner organizations that are available on our website for easy printing and distribution. These include a list for Court Ordered Community Service, Family Volunteer Opportunities, Group Community Service Opportunities, Newspaper Listings (current volunteer needs), and Youth/Eagle Scout opportunities. Your agency may be added to those lists by filling out this online form, or emailing our Volunteer Events Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org, the following information:
