Thank you volunteers! 4,200 volunteers are participating in United Way of Salt Lake's 21th Annual Day of Caring. Together, volunteers spend 20,000 total hours completing more than 113 one-day service projects in Davis, Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties. Volunteer efforts will save our communities more than $773,600 and help us fulfill our mission to improve lives and build a stronger community for us all.

DAY OF CARING KICK-OFF BREAKFAST
All sponsors, partners, and volunteer participants are invited to the Day of Caring kick-off breakfast at The Gateway. Come and enjoy live entertainment, and yummy food available from 7:30-9:00 a.m. Thank you to Meiers and Ricos for catering the breakfast,  for the entertainment, and our generous events sponsors: Chase, CHG Healthcare, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clearlink, Hexcel, Questar, Regence, Tesoro, and Wells Fargo.

STUFF THE BUS COMMUNITY PROJECT
UWSL is looking for volunteers to help stuff backpacks with school supplies for 5,000 children at Neighborhood Centers in Davis, Tooele, Salt Lake, and Summit counties.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: The Gateway Mall, 18 N. Rio Grande St., Salt Lake City, outside the Grand Hall (on the second level, between Thaifoon and Urban Outfitters)

WHAT: Volunteers will work to:

  • stuff each backpack with pens, pencils, glue, paper, notebooks, rulers and crayons
  • package stuffed backpacks into boxes and sort and count bags for each school
  • load backpacks onto district trucks for delivery to Neighborhood Centers
