Million Mentors, Tutors and Readers
Tools, Training & Resources
Make a commitment to get to know a child/youth in your community while sharing your life experiences to help them explore their interests, goals and values.
United Way of Salt Lake partners with a variety of programs that allow you to mentor a child/youth within their school and others allow you to share time with your mentee in the community. Mentors help with homework, read with their mentee and help them work through issues they may have in their life. Mentors act as role models, cheerleaders, advocates and friends to their mentees.
Join us, and United Way’s across the country, by becoming a volunteer reader, tutor or mentor. We all win when a child succeeds in school and grows up to be a productive adult who gives back to the community.

Mentoring Opportunity of the Month
October 2012 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do - not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah recruits, screens and trains mentors for one-to-one mentoring with children ages 6-18 in our community-based, school-based and workplace mentoring programs. BBBSU is recruiting volunteer mentors for each of these programs in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Summit, Wasatch, Utah and Washington counties.
