Central Park Community Center & PAL Boxing

The Central Park Community Center housing the Pete Suazo PAL Boxing Program. This program is designed to teach young men and women respect for themselves as well as their peers. The Community Center helps participants to gain self-discipline, self-esteem, and leadership skills, all while learning the basics of boxing.  Each participant is expected to live up to the expectations of the program and their community. The Community Center lives by the code, "we are boxers, not fighters" and takes in youth and adults from all walks of life to provide a structure that allows them to be a part of their community. Participants are able to perform community service or participate in the recreation and boxing programs. The Central Park Community Center strives to make a difference in each of the youth's lives by lending a hand however possible.

Central Park Community Center & PAL Boxing was purchased by the city of South Salt Lake in December of 2009 and after a remodel, the building opened to the public in April of 2010. The Community Center has served over 250 youth in the time it has been opened and is now preparing to expand its program to meet the needs of families in the community in addition to its current usage for junior high and high school students during time outside of school.
