Horizonte Instruction and Training Center

Horizonte Instruction and Training Center provides a myriad of programs and support for youth and families from across the valley. As the largest school in the Salt Lake City School District, in terms of population size, Horizonte provides an alternative to traditional middle and high school students including GED attainment or High School diploma. Horizonte also provides transitional course work for English language learners seeking a GED or High school diploma. In partnership with Salt Lake Community College, many students participate in a collaborative community college pipeline project that extends educational opportunities to post-secondary education.
Horizonte serves over 25 refugee and immigrant communities and related organizations. As a Welcome Center and in collaboration with United Way of Salt Lake, Horizonte coordinates and hosts cross collaboration strategies and activities that promote student and family success and college attainment. Immigrant and refugee groups, as well as all communities, can access classrooms, meeting space, the cafeteria, and meeting halls for events. They can also access kitchen facilities for refuge entrepreneurship programs, green houses for garden programs, and computer labs.
