VOLUNTEERS! Help United Way of Salt Lake Stuff the Bus with school supplies for 5,000 kids!

Salt Lake City – Join United Way of Salt Lake on September 8th to help stuff 5,000 backpacks with school supplies for low-income kids in our community.  


What: Stuff the Bus Public Volunteer Project 

       Volunteers will work to:

  •  stuff each backpack with pens, pencils, glue, paper, notebooks, rulers, crayons and other school supplies
  •  package stuffed backpacks into boxes
  •  load backpacks onto school buses for delivery  


When: United Way of Salt Lake’s Annual Day of Caring 

      September 8, 2011

      11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.


Where: The Gateway

      18 North Rio Grande Street

      Project will be set up outside in front of the Grand Hall

(top of the stairs between Taifoon and Urban Outfitters)

School buses will be parked on 400 West in front of The Depot


School buses will be on hand to be “stuffed” with backpacks and make deliveries to over 15 schools.  If 500 volunteers participate, that’s only 10 backpacks per person! Come on community, our school kids need you!


On-site after-hours dental care now in 13 Title I schools in Utah
December 18, 2014 Author: KUER 13 Title-I schools in Salt Lake are now providing on-site after-hours dental clinics thanks to a complex partnership of 11 groups including United Way of Salt Lake and Intermountain Healthcare.

School year ends but reading effort continues
July 23, 2014 Author: Nadine Wimmer Teachers at Roosevelt Elementary told students if they would work hard to meet their reading goals, the school would petition for a helicopter visit.

School Supplies Needed
June 13, 2014 Author: by Tom Busselberg School may be out for most students, but there will be those pencils, pens, notebooks, and more that are needed when classes resume in the fall. That’s why United Way of Salt Lake, which includes Davis County, is seeking school supplies for those in need.
