SALT LAKE CITY — United Way of Salt Lake is inviting families with children ages 5-18 to participate in its annual Summer of Service.

The program lasts through Aug. 31. To participate, children and families can volunteer with an organization and/or organize their own service project and maintain a volunteer journal.

Kids who participate in five, 10 or 25 hours of service will receive bronze, sliver or gold certificates of appreciation at the Summer of Service Recognition Party on Sept. 18 at the Boondocks Fun Center in Draper.
