School supplies for 5,000 Utah kids

September 8, 2011

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Volunteers and the United Way of Salt Lake stuffed 5,000 backpacks with school supplies for low-income kids.

Volunteers gathered at the Gateway Thursday to help out. Each backpack got pens, pencils, glue, paper, notebooks, rulers, crayons and other school supplies. Once stuffed, the backpacks were loaded onto school buses for delivery.

All summer long companies and individuals raised donations. 15 schools will receive the stuffed backpacks. A great way to start the new school year.
