(KUTV) More students will be getting access to preschool this year.

A new initiative by the Salt Lake County Council is expanding preschool for low income children.

The public-private venture means 600 children in the Granite and Park City School Districts will get a chance to start school early, which officials say is beneficial in the long term.

Officials say they'll get back the $350,000 spent on the program from money not spent prosecuting crime.
