Classroom Volunteers- Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement of Utah brings volunteers from the community face to face with Utah students. Classroom volunteers, using the JA program, make economic concepts relevant, fuel the entrepreneurial spirit, and challenge the students to excel. Give JA a try—you’ll love it! Each volunteer will make five classroom visits for grades K-5, usually once a week. Exact times for the classroom visits are determined by the teacher and the volunteer on an individual basis. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and supply references. A brief training on the materials will be provided by the JA staff. Teachers are required to stay in the classroom with volunteers at all times and volunteers are required to sign a volunteer conduct standards form.

Male Volunteers Needed to Help At-Risk Youth Ages 6 - 17. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah urgently needs male volunteers, ages 18 and over, to help a Little Brother experience what it's like to have a caring adult friend. Your one-on-one attention can give a boy much-needed confidence, ability to make better decisions, form appropriate values, value academic performance, family relationships, peer relationships and goals to help him succeed in life.

Medication Management Assistance for Refugees

Utah Health and Human Rights is seeking a volunteer to help refugee clients manage medications by entering all newly prescribed medications into a database. All information is gathered in a bi-weekly psychiatry clinic and volunteer will communicate updates with clients' primary care physicians and other providers to prevent interactions and ensure proper medication compliance. Ideally seeking a pharmacy, nursing, or medical student.

The P.A.L mentoring program is searching for adults who are willing to meet with a student one-on-one once a week at their center on 2825 S. 200 E. Mentors will help with homework, participate in recreational activities or work with the mentee in the boxing gym. Volunteers will receive training and should be willing to commit to one hour per week with their mentees. All volunteers must pass a criminal background check.

English Skills Learning Center (ESLC) is hosting a training workshop for volunteers interested in working with adults with limited English proficiency. The training is a 12 hour class going the basic of ESL instruction technique including reading, writing, listening and speaking in English for an adult with limited English proficiency. The class covers adult learning styles and activities which reinforce language learning
