With leadership from United Way of New York City, United Ways along the Eastern Seaboard have established the United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund to address near-term and long-term recovery needs of communities most affected by the hurricane. Contributions to the Fund will be used by United Ways in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, DC and West Virginia to address recovery needs in communities that FEMA has declared disaster areas. We give our sincere thanks to United Way of New York City who will manage the regional fund.

Until recently, individuals and families sought help from Access Utah Network. New legislation combined the efforts of Access Utah Network with United Way 2-1-1, the leading information line for help in finding the appropriate resources and referrals related to health and human services.

Stuff the Bus: School Supplies Needed!
July 17, 2012 Salt Lake City — Every year at the end of summer, most kids go back-to-school shopping for all the folders, pens, pencils, binders and glue sticks they could ever want. Unfortunately, some students don’t have this luxury. United Way of Salt is encouraging the community to “Stuff the Bus” and donate school supplies to help 5,000 children get the tools they need to learn.

February 10, 2012 Author: Craig Wagstaff Feb. 11 marks the 14th anniversary of National 211 Day. The day is recognized every year and was designated by United Way Worldwide to draw attention to services available through 211 information and referral centers throughout the country.
