BOUNTIFUL — School may be out for most students, but there will be those pencils, pens, notebooks, and more that are needed when classes resume in the fall.
That’s why United Way of Salt Lake, which includes Davis County, is seeking school supplies for those in need.
United Way is encouraging the community to “Stuff the Bus” and donate school supplies to help hundreds of Davis County children, and more, get the tools they need to learn, a press release from the agency said.
Supplies will be collected until Aug. 31, stuffed into backpacks and delivered to in-need schools and neighborhood centers, including the Wasatch Community Learning Center in Clearfield.
These are schools and facilities that serve low-income children and families. Hundreds of volunteers will stuff supplies into backpacks and deliver them on Sept. 11 dur9ng United Way’s 22nd annual Day of Caring.
You can sign up at uw.org/stb, choose three items to donate, hold a drive with family and coworkers, and drop off supplies at 70 S. Rio Grande Street at the Gateway in Salt Lake City Sept. 2-5 between 8 and 10 a.m. Additional drop off points are listed on line and at United Way offices, 257 E. 200 South, Suite 300 in Salt Lake.
Items needed include: pencils in packages of 10, spiral notebooks, pens, markers, crayons in boxes of 16, pocket folders, glue sticks, highlighters and erasers.
