Volunteer registration is now open for United Way of Salt Lake’s 21st annual Day of Caring, which will take place on Thursday, Sept. 12, with the goal of 5,000 Utah volunteers to help advance the education, income and health of the communities. Last year’s 4,000 volunteers from Davis, Salt Lake and Tooele counties saved the community $650,000 in labor cost. United Way is also seeking project proposals from nonprofit organizations and community agencies.

Volunteer projects range from landscaping and painting to reading and tutoring kids, building garden boxes, and helping in classrooms and community centers. Groups of volunteers are matched with meaningful projects that meet their time frame and needs. The deadline for volunteer sign-ups and project proposals is May 31. More information about volunteers can be found here.
