United Way asks community to donate school supplies

SALT LAKE CITY — This school year, many children will lack the supplies they need to enter the classroom ready to learn. The United Way of Salt Lake is encouraging the community to help collect school supplies for low-income children.

Supplies will be stuffed into backpacks and delivered to more than 15 schools on Sept. 8, which is the United Way of Salt Lake's annual Day of Caring. The supply drive will run until Aug. 25 and items asked for include: backpacks, pencils, pens, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, pocket folders, three-ring binders, markers, colored pencils, glue, scissors, highlighters, rulers and books.
