Deborah Bayle Scholarship Fund for Youth
United Way of Salt Lake is proud to introduce the Deborah Bayle Scholarship Fund for Youth. As a community leader and business influencer for nearly four decades, Deborah brought that experience and made a significant impact in her 16 years as the President and CEO of United Way of Salt Lake. During her tenure at United Way, Deborah courageously led the transformation of the organization to focus on changing the odds for kids and families in our communities. With her retirement in August of 2015, the Board of Directors of United Way of Salt Lake recognized her leadership by naming a scholarship fund in her honor to benefit those students whose lives have been directly impacted by the organization’s Collective Impact work. The scholarship program will grant five scholarships each year to new recipients, as well as grant continuing recipients, for up to four years of fulltime postsecondary studies at the University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, or Weber State University. These are the only institutions for which scholarships will be awarded in 2016. Fulltime is defined as a minimum of 12 credits per semester. The amount awarded for each scholarship is $5,000 annually, payable $2,500 per semester. The funds for the scholarship will be distributed through the educational institution and will be used for direct educational costs, including tuition, fees, and books.
