The Financial Stability Council met over the summer of 2007 to develop and present bold strategies based on group recommendation and research.  These proposals received broad consensus by the Financial Stability Council and were made available for public comment. 

Recommendations were then presented to the Governor and the Legislature to address some of the most significant problems in our state.  The proposals have helped to shape United Way's public policy and several recommendations have since become legislation, such as Financial & Economic Literacy Education and the Regent's Scholarship Program. Those recommendations that do not require legislative action are being pursued through community partnerships.
