Financial Stability Summit PDF Print E-mail

In 2007 United Way's Financial Stability Council was formed as a follow up to the report "Living on the Edge" United Way's research into bankruptcy and family fincial stability in Utah.  This report found significant numbers of middle-class and moderate-income Utahns struggling financially and identified five components of financial stability.

  • Income
  • Health care coverage and affordability
  • Housing affordability
  • The ability and opportunity to form assets (i.e. save for emergencies, higher education, retirement)
  • Financial education and behavior

To address these challenges in an integrated and comprehensive manner we convened a group of high level business, civic and community leaders to develop proposals that have the potential to impact every Utahn or the broadest possible segment of the population.  This fall United Way of Salt Lake will reconvene the Financials Stability Council for a half day summit to prioritize the objectives in the areas of income, education, health and housing.
