The federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) was created to help lift hardworking families out of poverty. Qualifying families can receive up to $4,500 in EITC tax refunds. But $50 to $80 million in federal EITC money is left unclaimed by Utahns each year. "Earn it. Keep it. Save it." is a public-private partnership that raises awareness about EITC and helps individuals and families file their taxes and claim all the available credits.

Earn it. Keep it . Save it. statewide efforts focus on helping low-income individuals and families claim the EITC through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. At VITA sites, trained volunteers help families complete and file their taxes for free. About 40 sites exist statewide.

Earn it. Keep it. Save it. involves a broad, statewide coalition of public and private partners.
